THIS JUST IN: Friday, August 29 -- Min does the keyboard thing for IvenFaint this Friday night at Howler's Coyote Café with the ever-awesome Debutante.

Show starts at 9pm.

Tuesday, September 9 -- My Boyfriend the Pilot swirls and twirls the ethereal and the phantasmal like audio ice cream at Your Inner Vagabond in the next installment of Electric Larryville, the series that showcase the most innovative electronica this city has to offer. Also on stage will be lovely people like IvenFaint, with their shoegazey guitars and sultry female vocals, and Axiomatik, making his Pittsburgh debut by taking back the word synthpop with some yummy (and cruelty-free) synthesized ambient/IDM casserole.

8pm – close.

Wednesday, September 24 -- minmei shares some gems from her extensive archives of VHS-oterica at Your Inner Vagabond's Wednesday movie night to bring you her own Rock N' Roll Picture Show, featuring three stylistically striking films with some wonderful music:

Flyer

  • The Monkees have a psychedelic romp in Head, co-written by Jack Nicholson and featuring cameos by Victor Mature and Frank Zappa.
  • David Byrne directs and narrates his zen character study True Stories, starring John Goodman and featuring nine songs by the Talking Heads.
  • Richard Elfman (Danny's brother) pays an adults-only homage to Max Fleischer with Forbidden Zone starring Herve "Tattoo" Villechaize and featuring an early lineup of the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo.

Films start at 8pm.

i am quite psyched that My Boyfriend the Pilot shall be unleashing some very new material this evening as ammunition against DJ Dizazter. This schtuff is sooo freakin’ pretty that i was just amazed as it seemed to fall out of the sky and into my lap(top) last evening. You’ll be amazed as well when you drop by at Your Inner Vagabond (4130 Butler Ave. in the 15201) this evening. i’m not sure where mystery soundz came from, but after a few NDEs, the processor now sometimes channels angels or haints or xenus or something.

but any show that features Maurice Rickard in a dual role as Death Pig and half of the Bureau of Nonstandards won’t be all angels and glitter and cookies. Oh, no, massive no-imput configurations of more undead and unknown hardwares are sure to astound as all parties duke it out and mess it up until only one is left standing. and there can be only one. did i mention there is no cover this evening for you to revel in the carnage?

By the way, as i mentioned to a guy at work this morning, the food at Vagabond is both delicious and affordable. About half of their tapas are veggie-friendly and the hummus, tapenade and walnut-stuff are all excellent and the orange caviar is recommended as well to you dirty dirty fish-eaters. Lots of wonderful snacks and caffeinated refreshments there. BYOB, though there may already be some beer and/or wine around if you make nice with the talent.

as an aside, i sold another old book last night.  this one is being shipped to Weed, California.  i didn't make that up, but i did look up the zip to see if it's a real place. it checks out.

If you namedrop that you are there to see me, you get an autographed poster, or homegrown Center of Changes demo CD or brand-spankin'-new ultra-live improv Do You Remember Love: Redmoon CD.

For a show not on a holiday weekend, drop by Your Inner Vagabond on July 31st for the next installment of Electric Larryville for more improv-noisy tastiness.
